Visit BNI Business Connections
Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:30 AM:
The Business Connections, San Rafael BNI chapter welcomes visitors and substitutes! However, we realize that joining a large meeting can be intimidating. We’ve created this visitors guide to make you feel more comfortable when visiting our group.
We love visitors! Feel free to come to a meeting and see what BNI is all about.
Structure of the Meeting
When you walk in, you will be greeted by a couple of members who are our visitor hosts. You’ll be asked to fill out a short form asking for basic contact information and given a name card. It’s best to arrive promptly at 7:00 so that you have some time to network before the meeting begins.
Please bring about 50 of your business cards. these will be offered to our members.
We have a breakfast, coffee and tea.
During the first half of the meeting, each member speaks for 30 seconds about their business. If you are subbing for a member, this will be your opportunity to present their infomercial.
After our members have made their 30 second presentations, our president will introduce the guests and mention their businesses. If you are in the same profession as a current member, we will introduce you without mentioning your business.
During the second half of the meeting, three members are given a longer time slot to present their businesses in greater detail.
After these presentations, we go around the room and give all members a chance to pass referrals to other members, or to thank members for services received. At this time, we encourage visitors to stand and share their overall impression of the meeting.
After the referrals have all been passed, we have final announcements and then additional networking time.
The meeting’s over, what to do?
If you think you might like to join, or if you would just like some additional information, we will have one of our visitor hosts discuss more about BNI with you. We will be happy to answer any questions you might have, and can give you an application to join.
How many times can I visit?
Prospective members may visit twice before submitting an application.
Can anyone apply?
We welcome applications from anybody who’s profession is not currently represented in the group. If there is a conflict between you and another member, you are welcome to put your name on a waiting list and we’ll notify you when that position opens up. You can see a list of all chapters and the professions represented at www.bnisfbay.com
Once I apply, what happens?
When you submit an application to join our chapter, it generally takes 2-3 weeks for membership to check references and come to a decision. Once you’ve submitted an application, you may keep visiting the group until a decision has been made.
